Overall, I enjoyed delivering the presentation my group members and I came up with. We had lots of fun preparing the slides and practicing together and I felt that we as a group truly bonded.
However, I felt that my delivery during the day could have been greatly improved. Despite having practiced a few times, I stumbled a few times to find the correct words. My plan had been not to draft a speech and merely repeat it. Instead I chose to familiarize myself with the concepts and main points that I wanted to deliver during the presentation and present it immediately to appear more natural.
Simultaneously, on hindsight, the presentation slides should have been more professional looking. While attempting to create a relaxed environment for the audience, I should have employed the use of more graphs and figures instead of the comic strips. While the slides shared a common template, the animation slightly varied and that made the presentation inconsistent and distracting. Even though the intention had been to ensure that my group members were comfortable with their own animation and timing, it had its disadvantages.
Nonetheless, I was very proud of the presentation my group members and I delivered. We managed to keep within the 30 minute time limit somewhat and the main points were delivered. I felt that we had managed to produce a persuasive proposal.

Dear Jihan,
ReplyDeleteI felt that your presentation was good and that you had the right tone and pace throughout the presentation. You managed to grab my attention in areas that you were emphasizing on. I felt that you were natural and friendly throughout the presentation which made the experience very enjoyable.
Indeed, the presentation slides could have used more of graphs and figures which would be more informative and relevant to the audience in understanding the ideas you were bringing across to us. However, if you are asking whether it did create a relaxed environment for the audience, I believe that it did thus it served its purpose.
I felt that your group did adopt a persuasive tone throughout the presentation and did well in telling us what you wanted us to see in your presentation.
thanks. :)
Best Regards

Hi Jihan,
ReplyDeleteI also felt that you delivered your presentation rather smoothly and confidently. I did not realise any stumbleness at all, maybe you just too over-conscious about it. Its true that memorising a speech for a presentation would seem mechanic and unnatural, hence sometimes we might pause for a second or two when giving the presentation, but it's perfectly fine.
The visuals could have translated more direct information if you used graphs and such, because they are easy to read and can capture the audience attention easily. Nonetheless, it was clear and concise without too much wordy ideas.
I felt that the persuasive element was quite well brought out in your group as every member made an effort to remind the targeted audience to adopt your proposal.
It was an overall good presentation.

Adrian
hi Jihan,
ReplyDeleteYour performance for the presentation was very good. You have, to my opinion, effectively conveyed your thoughts and ideas to the audiance. You were verry fluent in your speech and the pace was very comfortable. You also managed very well your time limit, even though you had a lot of information to convey.
Further, when answering the questions, you adopted a polite tone while mainging consistency in your answers.
On theoverall you were very good, better than in peer teaching.
best regards
Christopher
Thank you everyone for your comments. I greatly appreciate any feedback, positive or negative, as I believe that it is important to always learn from your mistakes and continue to strive to do better. I will remember to focus on the visual presentation in my subsequent presentations in the working world. I have learnt a lot from all your comments these past few months and I am very grateful for the opportunity to learn from you.
