Blog post 6: Final Reflections

These few weeks have proved to be a trying yet exciting period. I have gained several important skills such as e-mail writing, meeting and teamwork skills, while refining my existing communication skills, that include oral presentation and listening skills. As such, I feel more confident and prepared in tackling the ominous working world. All the lessons that I take away with me from this module will be of much value in every aspect of my life. I have also realised that it is not easy to learn communication skills, despite how easy it sounds. I encountered several difficulties in this module, such as learning how to write concisely and clearly. I had always found writing papers relatively easy, however, the blog posts which limited the word count proved to be a laborious task. This module has taught me to articulate ideas clearly, be it on paper or verbally. I have enjoyed the challenging tasks put to me by this module, as I felt that I really gained much from it. Altogether, I know that my communication skills are much better now, than before I read the module.

This will be my final blog post, so I bid all you readers farewell. Thank you for taking the time to comment and read my posts diligently. Take care.

    Dear Jihan,

Thank you for your post to my final blogpost :)
In case you didn't know, I have been following your blog for the past few months and I enjoyed reading it:).

I have always liked your writing style because it is consistently well written, congrats!
Also, I noticed improvement in your presentation skills from the first presentation (when I commented you were speaking too softly) to becoming the charismatic presenter you were during Oral Presentation.

I wish you all the best for your future endeavors and please take care my dear classmate!

  3. Dear Jihan,

As your group mate for the final project/OP, I would like to use this final blog post to say what I find most remarkable about you :) , just in case you did not notice you had it in you or that you thought it went unnoticed.

Your ability to always just be able to say the right things and give the right responses at the right time never fails to amaze me. I think this is most demonstratable in the Q & A section during the OP and also during our group meetings. I find this especially amazing as it is something that cannot be rehearsed nor really prepared. I guess it bears testimony to your innate people skills.

Hence, I feel confident that your natural people skills together with what you have learnt in this course, will allow you to have a successful life built on effective communications.

All the best for embarking on a new life after this last semester.

    Regards,
    sixiao

Thank you for being a friend :). It has always been a pleasure reading your blog and I looked forward to reading them. Being your blogmate, you also made me look forward to the sessions in class where you share your ideas as you are a good presenter and your speeches never fail to grab my attention.

Thank you for being so kind and yet straightforward in your comments which have helped me to improved through the weeks. Will miss reading your blog. Hope to keep in touch.

I felt that though we did not have chances to work together in a group, we still bonded over the blog posts and comments.

  5. Hi Jihan,

You had impressed me as a being a good speaker. You had been proactive throughout the whole project. As Si Xiao mentioned, you have the ability to think very fast while speaking. This is one of your best selling points.

It was a pleasure to work with you as a group mate. Hope you all the best in your future life

You never fail to surprise me with your excellent oral presentation skills, confidence and light-hearted nature which make you very approachable.

The confidence, calm composure and excellent thought-process when you are speaking are commendable and a big plus point as these are vital in the working world. These are also reflective of your communication skills.

  8. Hi Jihan,

I wrote the following paragraph as a summary of the comments for my final post. Wish to share the important part of it with you :)

    "Dear classmates and Ms. Goh,

To: Jihan, YingHui, Prameet, SiXiao and Kenneth

Thank you for your kind comments to my final post. Also, I was very touched by what Prameet said, "I am glad to have such a positive image in your mind, Prameet" :)Yes, we do have many things in common and the positive traits you have associated with me, I similarly can find them in you.
Reading the comments brought back memories of the very first lesson, I still remember there was once (not sure if it was the first lesson) I was sitting in front of Jihan and she gave a very warm and kind smile which really made my day "Thank you Jihan :)". And as for YingHui and Kenneth, I don't know why but I am always happy to see both of them. Especially Kenneth always appear cheerful to me:)."

    Take care.
